Sponsorship Programs

Currently there are 12 million children under the age of 18 who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa (1 in 4 families are caring for an orphan). This number is projected to rise to 40 million by 2010. Although touted as a role model in dealing with the HIV/AIDS epidemic, even in Uganda the number of orphans continues to rise due to the lag time between the infection, sickness and death of their parents.
A large number of these children live as beggars on streets as their relatives are unwilling, due to the stigma, or unable, due to extreme poverty to care for them. Many take to substance abuse such as inhaling gasoline and sniffing glue to stay warm and hold off hunger pangs. Child prostitution is rampant raising the risk of exposure to and pursuant infection of HIV/AIDS. This tragedy is compounded by the plight of abandoned babies born to homeless street girls hopelessly unable to care for themselves.
The only hope these children have to escape the vicious cycle is education. Outreach to Africa started the “Gift of Education” project, a monthly sponsorship program to place children at elementary, high school and university levels in existing schools.
Outreach to Africa currently has over 200 children in our program with many more on the waiting list. Education is the key that unlocks a child’s potential. Personally invest in the life of a child by sponsoring.
Outreach to Africa was founded on the principle of an individual positively affecting the life of another individual. Personal sponsorship not only gives another a hope for a better future, it gives the sponsor the ability to make a difference. You can experience this life enhancing opportunity in the following ways:
Child Sponsorship
Your monthly donation will provide the following:
$30 -- Elementary (tuition & school materials)
$60 -- High School (tuition, room & board)
$180 -- University (tuition, room & board)
Adult Sponsorship
(includes literacy and vocational training)
The sponsorship amount varies depending upon the program chosen.
Community Sponsorship
(sustainable agriculture)
A one-time donation ranging from $50 - $500 will help buy seed or farming equipment.
Micro Enterprise
A one-time donation ranging from $300 - $2000 can help a widow or single mother start a business to become self-sustainable.
example: $300 will buy one sewing machine and supplies. The recipient can then get contracts from local schools to make uniforms.
