Joseph was found begging on the streets of Kampala, Uganda. Although highly intelligent with an infectious smile, he could not find a job because he had no way to get back and forth from work. Having been crippled by Polio, he was destined to a life of hardships on the street. Through Outreach to Africa's Wheelchair Program in partnership with Free Wheelchair Mission of Costa Mesa, CA, Joseph was given not only the gift of mobility by providing a wheelchair but hope for a more opportunistic future.

Outreach to Africa’s Medical Clinic located in Rwebisengo, Uganda was opened in August 2004. With the large influx of refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo and the nearest hospitals a 2 hour drive away, medical facilities were desperately need. The clinic has exceeded all expectations by treating over 5000 patients and delivering over 300 babies per year. In addition, the clinic is now fully self-sustainable, paying all staff salaries and purchasing all needed medications on site.
Margaret was the first lady to get benefit from Outreach to Africa’s Micro-Enterprise Program. Having escaped the brutal war in the Democratic Republic of Congo, she found herself in a small village in Uganda unable to procure work. With no other options, she agreed to become the second wife of a local businessman who later abandoned her and their two children. With a small amount of $300, Margaret was able to open a kiosk that sold basic household goods (soap, matches, sugar etc). Six months later the kiosk was flourishing and Margaret was fully able to support her two boys and her sister’s three children as well.
Alfred is a brilliant young man who has benefited from the generosity shown through the Outreach to Africa Sponsorship Programs. Having finished high school, he had no hope of pursuing further education due to lack of funds. Through an individual sponsor, Alfred was able to complete Bible College and has now been hired as an Evangelist based at one of the large churches in Kampala, Uganda.
