When given an opportunity to realize true human nature as it presents itself, You can help bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world. Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or . . . Do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process?
Viviane’s passion was children; she was involved with Princess Evelyn Komuntale and Outreach to Africa, an organization dedicated to the education of the children of Uganda. Initially, Viviane coordinated a neighborhood “underwear” drive because “the children had none!”
Viviane’s efforts grew into assisting in other fundraising efforts to provide the children and orphans of Uganda with educational opportunities in the form of schools and dormitories.
We are fundraising to enable the building of a school dormitory in remembrance of our dear friend Viviane Otis, a passionate supporter of Princess Evelyn and Outreach to Africa.
We wanted to keep you all up to date on what we are doing to raise the money for the girl’s dormitory. We realize how busy everyone is with their family, but it only takes a few moments to help this amazing cause and leave a legacy for Viviane's children.
Here is an email from Katherine Hichborn, a member of OTA's Board of Directors after her October 2008 trip to Uganda with Princess Evelyn:
My three weeks in Uganda was very enlightening. I knew Princess Evelyn did a lot but not to the degree that I saw. She has touched many lives and has made much sacrifice in doing it. The school is incredible and what is taking place there you would be amazed. I will have recent photo's to share with you. This Dormitory is very much needed and wanted in the community. We were visited by the Parliament who commended Evelyn in all she has done for this community and they are going to improve the roads to get there.
We are working very hard to get more sponsors, as we have many more kids who need help. These have absolutely no food, drink or place to live! Imagine this. I hope we can make these events a real success so we can begin building it. Evelyn is still in Uganda to try and take care of some important issues. I'm hoping we can get some big dollars into her hands soon so she can start the process immediately.
I am encouraging you to participate in getting this dormitory built.
Here are some things we are doing:
* Home Spa parties to include skin treatments, massages and African boutique items
* Cash for kids idea - We are receiving jars to put labels on and have the kids go to their
friends, family & neighborhoods to ask for spare change for the kids dormitory
* Fundraiser at Terry Otis’s home on February 7, 2009
