Elementary School
Uganda
It is estimated that 2,031,000 people are living with HIV/AIDS in Uganda (Uganda AIDS commission, 2004) and about 1,671,000 people have already died from HIV/AIDS leaving over 2,672,400 children orphaned without anyone to look after them.
The situation is exacerbated by stigma and discrimination causing the children to be ostracized by their communities. Relatives see that the parents have died of AIDS and do not attach any value on the children because they think they are HIV positive as well.
All orphans are exposed to difficulties, however certain age groups are more susceptible to circumstances especially from ages 2-12 years old. August 7, 2007 in Uganda, (August 6 in the USA) marked a memorable day. Fields of Life and their Ugandan construction firm broke ground for the Paul Devlin Academy in Geme – 7 miles from Fort Portal town, Western Uganda.
This elementary day/boarding school will accommodate 320 students.
Jordan
Property Group, Outreach To Africa and Friends raised
funds towards this project. Nick Jordan and the planning committee
worked tirelessly to put together a successful event at the Montage
Resort, Laguna Hills.
Funds
raised were able to build class rooms, offices, and a multi
purpose hall. We believe God for more funding to build dormitories,
staff houses and other school buildings.
The school will open the day section of the school in February 2009.
The
building of the school in this area has brought other projects which
were needed. The community is very excited at the various services that
have been brought to them. Projects include: a Mobile Clinic, sports
outreach, a church, and farming.

Jobs have been created for the community. While the men are building, the ladies are digging gardens and planting crops.
Outreach
To Africa is also honored to have this school named after the
late Paul Devlin, an Irish man who touched several lives in Orange
Country, California. Thanks to the Devlin family.
